It was February 22 when 12 young idealists, united in their zeal for Knowledge Equality and Enlightenment started the Greek Letter Fraternity named "Kappa Epsilon" in the University of the Philippines. From the Mother Chapter in Diliman, the first community chapter was formed in Carmel Subdivision in Quezon City and branched out to different school chapters in Metro Manila.
Alongside the fraternity, the brothers organized a Ladies Auxiliary called Kappa Epsilon Aphrodite, which would later be called Theta Epsilon Sorority in 1973. The University of the East chapter also created its Ladies Auxiliary in 1972 and named it the Kappa Epsilon Sorority. The Kappa Epsilon Lady Circle was also established in University of the Philippines College Manila.
Amidst the difficulties brought about by Martial Law in the 70's and challenges in the 80's, the Kappa Epsilon Fraternity flourished in all facets of campus life. Active in major changes at the university. The student leaders looked up to the fraternity for leadership and guidance. The fraternity became co-founders of the League of Filipino Students, SAMASA, and many other student organizations.
The Kappa Epsilon fraternity continued its expansion to other schools, campuses and communities in Metro Manila, Northern and Central Luzon.
In the 1990s, The Kappa Epsilon U P Los Baños chapter was chartered and became the southern hub of the mother chapter. From there, P .U .P. Lopez, U. P. Baguio , U. P. Mindanao and many other school chapters were chartered and established.By 2010, new Kappa Epsilon chapters continue to be established across the country.
The diaspora of Kappa Epsilon alumni around the Philippines and to other countries enabled the establishment of Kappa Epsilon chapters all over the world.
In order to harness the resources and influence of alumni to support the growth of the fraternity, The UP Kappa Epsilon Alumni Association was established in 1988.
In 1995, the Kappa Epsilon Alumni Association of North America was established and opened its doors to all North American Kappa Epsilon alumni. Aside from organizing their own social events, KEAANA would raise funds to support projects of their counterparts in the Philippines.
The Kappa Epsilon University of the East Alumni Association was organized in 2003 to harness its growing base of alumni to support their own socio-civic projects.
In 2004, the Kappa Epsilon Alumni Council with representatives from existing alumni associations and school chapters was formed to coordinate projects and activities across the country.
In 2017, The UP Kappa Epsilon Alumni Association was reorganized to form the UP System Kappa Epsilon Fraternity. The Kappa Epsilon U P L B Alumni Association was also incorporated in 2023.
On its 50th year, The Kappa Epsilon Fraternity celebrated its Golden Anniversary and Homecoming event in 2018 at the Solaire Grand Ballroom, Pasay City and celebrated across the universe.
The COVID 19 pandemic did not stop the Kappa Epsilon Fraternity from directly serving the affected communities and conducted projects that directly supported those in the frontlines.
On its 55th year, imbued with the principles of loyalty, the Kappa Epsilon Fraternity continues it zeal of Brotherhood through Service to fellowmen and remains united and determined,throughout the nation and across the globe to Go the Distance! towards Infinity!
